Sound is felt. We might not consider the experience under such terms, but its true. Sound, compression waves traveling through the air collide with us, shaking inside our skulls and creating electricity and chemicals that we interpret in our brains. It is a visceral and physical experience. Our attention to sound and our identification with sound is unique, Sound appears to exist “out there”, removed, intrinsically other, and thus detached and separated from the listener.
